ENERGY STORAGE
A renewable and environmentally friendly solution
ENERGY STORAGE SOLUTIONS
A COMPLETE RENEWABLE VALUE CHAIN
Energy storage market is growing fast
The renewable energy market is increasing fast all over the world. However, today’s grids are not efficient, as much of the energy produced is wasted and not distributed.
Energy storage solutions could balance power supply and demand instantly making the power networks more resilient and efficient.

Energy storage solutions could balance power supply and demand instantly making the power networks more resilient and efficient.
Universal Kraft works with different types of energy storage solutions:
- Batteries, large scale as a transitional solution
- Compressed air storage
- Pump hydro solutions
- Hydrogen
AIR STORAGE
Universal Kraft has been working on a compressed air storage solution, combining renewable energy generation from wind or solar with compressed air energy storage in tanks (small scale) or in the form of ground storage (utility scale).
The basic principle is that clean power from wind or solar drives a compressor that compresses air into a storage device (ground or tank), which is later reversed when energy is needed, into an adopted generator.
Both ways are at an early stage and Universal Kraft is working with its partners to develop and test new implementations of existing technology.
BATTERY STORAGE
Universal Kraft is implementing a new business unit dedicated to battery storage. Batteries are an excellent source of frequency reserves due to fast reaction time, and the number of batteries in the system are increasing.
Over 50 GW are already installed globally, and new large project are announced weekly. Overall, Europe is forecasted to have a capacity of 789 GWh by 2030, little over 14% of the global total of 5454 GWh.
How can large scale batteries help:

How can large scale batteries help:
- Support frequency markets in response time
- Support renewable buildout in flexibility
- Support decarbonisation in replacing gas
- Price competitive through falling capacity costs
