Did you know you can use your solar panels for heating water, helping you save money on your utility bills?
The idea is pretty simple: sunshine that hits water in black tubes or surfaces gets hot and you may use it for your daily needs – shower, cleaning, cooking and so on.
Solar panels, a common type of power generating that transforms solar energy into electricity, are what most people connect with solar energy. Solar technology is not, however, just used to generate electricity. You can also solar panels for heating water.
How does solar water heating work?
Solar water heating systems use solar collectors to collect heat from the sun and these collectors are fitted to the roof, ideally, where they receive the most sunshine. An alternative is to install your solar collectors on a wall or the ground that faces south. The collectors then transmit the sun’s heat to the water.
